What can I expect to do in this role?

As an Administrative Assistant, you will:

  • organize and log incoming and outgoing mail
  • respond to inquiries from staff and the public
  • prepare a variety of material including routine correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, minutes and presentations
  • coordinate travel and meeting arrangements, and schedule appointments for managers
  • provide financial administrative support by processing invoices and expense claims
  • support managers in preparing human resource (HR) documents
  • maintain files, documents and manuals, and archive records
  • participate in projects related to the development and implementation of administrative processes and systems


How do I qualify?

Administrative Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • You have knowledge of administrative processes and practices to provide support to management and staff.
  • You can provide input in the development and implementation of office administrative systems and processes.
  • You can coordinate HR documents, purchasing requisitions, invoices and expense claims.


Organizational, Reasoning, Problem Solving and Analytical Skills

  • You can determine work priorities and respond to multiple work demands.
  • You can provide general information to clients and refer requests appropriately.
  • You have good arithmetic skills and attention to detail to check and verify information, and provide general financial support.


Communication, Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills

  • You can communicate effectively, and respond to inquiries with tact and diplomacy.
  • You can prepare standard correspondence and manage work in a team environment.
  • You understand customer service principles, methods and practices, and you can provide excellent services.


Computer Skills

  • You can use word processing, database management, spreadsheet, presentation and organizational chart applications.
  • You have knowledge of administrative, financial and human resources information systems.
