Teaching Artist / Designer
We are seeking a new Teaching Staff to join our team! Young Guns is an independent art and design studio that offers mentorship and training for high-school students wanting to refine their technical skills and develop professional portfolios for post-secondary application. At the core of our studio, we want our students to experience deeper engagement by approaching their practice with an open mind and inward reflection.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting in facilitating the students' objectives:

  • Leading and counselling students in their learning plans for portfolio and application to Universities.
  • Development of soft and hard skills.
  • Idea generation and conceptualization
  • Support with technical execution
  • Assigning homework and project deadlines
  • Maintaining accountability
  • Documentation
  • Other miscellaneous tasks within the studio

JOB POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a background in Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Architecture, or Fashion through post-secondary training or relative work experience
  • Strong foundational drawing skills (familiarity with perspective and figure drawing is a plus) - we have a core drawing program that we will train you on.

*Will require a criminal record check upon hiring
Strongly recommended but not required:

  • Familiarity with digital software and Adobe Suite: eg. Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign / Rhino / Blender / Procreate
  • DSLR camera and documentation photography skills
  • Experience working with youth and teens
  • Other teaching experience, or work in educational settings

POSITION SCHEDULE

  • Part time (2-4 shift per week depending on availability)
  • 4 hr shifts on weekdays (Mon-Thurs)
  • 5 hr shifts on weekends (Sat-Sun)

*There is a probationary period of 3 months to gauge if the applicant is a right fit for our studio
