We are currently seeking a Carhouse Dispatcher, and the work location for this position is Russell Carhouse. This position consists of Night Shift with Tuesday and Wednesday (Various) as off days.


  • Performing routine vehicle dispatching work at the Carhouse, assigning vehicles for the build-up of service and/or scheduled runs.
  • Completing vehicle dispatch lists in order to set destination signs, run numbers and arrange vehicles or trains in the carhouse or yard according to route requirements and scheduled start times.
  • Identifying and directing vehicles to the proper tracks for inspection, repair or storage, and reporting on the status and availability of vehicles for service and/or change offs.
  • May be required to assist in various Carhouse Operator duties when necessary.
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.   • Candidate will be required to participate in the TTC’s Customer Service Ambassador Program.


  • Required training normally obtained through completion of Grade 10, or its equivalent through practical experience demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, communicate effectively and write legibly.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months of service as a Carhouse Operator.
  • Valid non probationary Class “G” or better, Province of Ontario Driver’s License.
  • Required to attend, successfully complete and pass the required written and practical tests involved in the Training & Development Department’s programs for rail vehicle certification; in order to qualify to operate any type of rail vehicle at the assigned location.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
This position is designated Safety Sensitive under the TTC's Fitness for Duty Policy. If you do not hold a designated position, you will be required to pass a drug test as part of the certification process.
