Hiring Unit:
Office of the Dean of Students ( The Office for Sexual Violence Response, Support and Education)

Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Sexual Violence Response Advisor, the Communications Assistant (OSVRSE social media) will work with the Communions Officer to create weekly social media posts and maintain OSVRE’s social media presence as well as coordinating the office’s presence at various campus events. The incumbent will also perform an environmental scan and develop resource documents.
Job Content – Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Monitor OSVRSE’s social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook).
  • Create and posts social media content to the office’s various platforms.
  • Perform an environmental scan of sexual and gender-based violence resources and/or new research in the field.
  • Compile a resource document of environmental scan results.
  • Some graphic design and photo editing may be required.
  • Assist with outreach events (eg. tabling).
  • Compile and report data in reports and manual updates as required.

  • Preference for a returning student in an undergraduate or graduate degree program
  • Preference for a student with their laptop/device to access social media
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Punctual, organized, reliable and professional
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong written communication skills (proficiency in French is an asset)
  • Experience creating posts and/or events on Facebook and Instagram
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva an asset
  • Experience with editing an asset
  • An interest in and knowledge of consent, sex positivity and sexual violence prevention is an asset
Minimum Education and Experience:
High School Diploma 1 Year Related Experience
Hourly Salary:
(AMUSE B) $16.00
