Job Description

The role is targeted toward co-op students who are interested in a career in IT – the incumbent would have the opportunity to:
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and suggest ways to prevent future problems.
  • Document all pertinent end user problem or issue.
  • Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriate experienced technician.
  • Record, track, and document - final resolution.
  • Use only approved diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Access approved software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved and report all finding and final resolutions.
  • This is intended to be a rotating Coop position
To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • Post-secondary coursework in Information Technology, progressing towards a related degree or diploma
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of Office programs
  • Very strong Customer Service, Analytical and Problem solving technical understanding
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide courteous, prompt and accurate customer service to internal & external customers, vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure that all incidents, changes and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Access to ticketing system/queues, escalation paths.
  • Build a culture of collaboration, teamwork, competitiveness, innovation and respect
  • Mobile Device Management, support and Coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Conduct research, collect and analyze data to prepare reports and documents
  • Gain knowledge of CGI Framework/SLA contract/BCP/DR programs/IT Operations framework.
  • Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating needed actions to management; discovering irregularities; determining continuing needs.
  • Arrange and co-ordinate meetings and events
  • Ensure effective communication to Senior Management, Customers, Users, and Technical staff
  • Participate in weekly change review meetings.
  • Prepare agendas, spreadsheets, correspondence and draft memos, presentation materials and handouts, reports, letters and other documents as required for review, revision and approval.
  • Record, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings
  • Supply ordering, maintenance and related expense management.
Key Qualifications
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Recommended completion of a one-year college level curriculum
  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and application software.
  • Experience with desktop operating systems including Windows XP, 7, 8 & 10
  • Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities.
  • Be prompt, directed, reliable, self-motivated and highly dependable
  • Keen attention to detail and able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders setting and managing expectations
