Mobility Solutions Digital Product Manager

Job description

Our client is looking for a Mobility Solutions Digital Product Manager, responsible for the management and delivery of digital, digitally-enabled, and IoT products to support its customer-centric digital solutions products. Mobility Solutions was established in early 2020 as a new business unit leading our client’s digital transformation goal to deliver best-in-class digital experience for how users and goods move around the world. This includes the creation and delivery of new services and features to end-users or customers via web portals and mobile apps. The role is responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of the design and delivery of the product set.

The role will oversee product development from inception to its launch, and assist in development of testing & support planning, business model development, training, and marketing communications.

The person may also be asked to manage existing products, and identify ways to enhance those products.

The digital product manager will act as a Voice of the Customer between end users and the technical teams, communicating consumer needs and translating those needs into new product features for development.

According to company needs, the role may be required to support multiple products which may include a variety of IoT sensors, hardware tools, and digital platforms that combined create a web of intelligent data collection for mobility-centric prescriptive analytics.

The successful applicant will work with many groups within Bridgestone Americas, Japan, Europe and its customers and support networks. He/she should also be comfortable working within and managing across a matrix organization.

The role may demand international travel approximately 10 percent of the year. When operating from the home country, will require significant schedule flexibility to allow for daily and weekly interaction with development groups, end users, and sales/marketing across multiple regions.

Individuals must be able to participate in a fast-paced, startup-like environment; continuously seeking new ways of transforming the business, and be flexible when challenged to deliver milestones despite hurdles.

Digital Product Management (70%)

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of product features, from ideation to technical implementation, in collaboration with creative stakeholders, interaction designers, developers and QA
  • Drive the digital development team members in an Agile development process enacting Scrum values and practices, while simultaneously working with technical teams responsible for hardware/sensor development following waterfall methodology
  • Write clear and actionable product and technical specifications for new features and communicate these ideas clearly to the team for implementation
  • Manage a portfolio of assigned digital projects, working with cross-functional teams and external resources to deliver high-quality digital projects on schedule and on budget
  • Participate in and help facilitate stand-ups, release and sprint planning, reviews, demos and retrospectives
  • Support or coordination with release management and user acceptance testing
  • Contributing and collaborating in creation and consumption of open, standards-based solutions, while working with existing client technologies and infrastructure
  • Direct field sales support with end users for communicating value proposition of the product(s)

Mentoring / Training / Development (5%)

Mentoring, coaching, and training less senior product managers as Bridgestones digital solutions portfolio grows may be required.

Digital Product Management Strategy / Direction (25%)

Assist CET Directors in the identification of new digital, digitally-enabled, or IoT products and development of project charters and plans as appropriate.


  • BS in marketing or computer science
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product design, interactive or digital platforms and mediums that may include games, and marketing.
  • Minimum 2 different digital products management experience, preferably those with a mix of IoT, edge processing, big data, and predictive/prescriptive analytics components.
  • General Product Owner experience, owning all aspects of a product from ideation to optimization.
  • Firm understanding of web, mobile and emerging platforms best practices, and a high level of comfort working with creative, engineering, and technical teams.
  • Proven experience with and understanding of processes to create new digital solutions, including use case development, technical requirements gathering, agile methodology, and defining KPI
  • Strong product and project management, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at the same time while working under tight deadlines with limited resources
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize business and development needs and manage stakeholders on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer focus, awareness of User Centered Design methodology, digital customer behavior, sourcing of customer insight and importance of customer testing.
  • Excellent understanding of delivery frameworks particularly hands on experience of working in an Agile sprint team.
  • Subject Matter Expertise of digital channel, including technical, commercial and market considerations.
  • Commercial focus; ability to balance risks vs. rewards and maximize cost vs profitability
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to operate effectively with ambiguous and incomplete data.
  • Strong decision making skills, with the ability to make clear judgments based on data and insight and understand the implications.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills to satisfy a wide range of internal and external customers with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to approach things differently or do different things to deliver goals.
  • Respectful of different cultures, working with colleagues from across all regions: North America, Latin America, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe.
