Job description


This Portfolio Manager role will be at the heart of collaborating with suppliers and key internal and external stakeholders to create and execute plans and promotions that lead to market share growth.

Department: Apex Portfolio

Reports To: Director, Apex Portfolio

Portfolio Manager Responsibilites:


  • Develop & execute annual brand plans for each supplier
  • Collaborate with Key Account Team to develop programming, and incorporating all inputs from key internal stakeholders
  • Develop national and regional promotional and pricing plans in collaboration with the pricing team
  • Develop an effective A&P strategy and manage budgets accordingly
  • Develop and launch yearly Brand Plans internally with all regional sales & Trade Development team; Annual priorities, trade plans, forecasts, A&P, key dates, POS Development
  • Build and maintain calendar of business reviews for key portfolio partners
  • Build innovation launch plans, incorporating workback of pitch dates, initial order quantities, packaging requirements, product positioning, sell sheets, specs & pricing
  • Manage schedules for supplier market visits
  • Perform custom data analysis as needed to uncover insights and opportunities related to category positioning, category trend analysis, competitive programming
  • Collaborate with Trade Development and Regional Leadership to capture feedback and input of Apex portfolio programming


  • Act as key point for Press outreach, proactively engaging for new vintage releases and innovation products
  • Manage development and acquisition of all marketing collateral: POS, Sales Tools, Creative Assets
  • Lead coordination of Trade Shows and Events
  • Manage Breakthru Beverage Apex Portfolio Social Media Calendar
  • Lead BBG Canada e-commerce initiatives
  • Curate and build segmented email lists, and execute custom e-mail marketing campaigns
  • Create Sell Sheets as needed
  • Lead Brand development initiatives where appropriate, working with supplier creative teams to source assets

Onboarding/Launch Support

  • Own the onboarding of new suppliers from start to finish
  • Act as Apex portfolio brand ambassador as needed at internal and external events

Portfolio Manager Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of Sales and/or Marketing experience (preference given to beverage alcohol)
  • Undergraduate degree in Business or similar
  • Bilingual (French & English) Preferred
  • Exceptional Project Management Skills
  • Strong Interpersonal/Influencing Skills
  • Customer oriented and results motivated
  • Category Management Fundaments & Commercial Execution Focused
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to master trade rules of government monopolies and all markets in Canada
