General Accountability

Reporting to the Program Administrator – Fitness for Duty, this position is responsible for assisting in the administration of the TTC’s Fitness for Duty Policy. Responsibilities include preparing correspondence, scheduling meetings as well as aftercare appointments, tracking invoices, reporting confidential results, updating database and preparing monthly statistical reports. As required, the incumbent acts as backup for the Employee Relations Assistant.

Key Job Functions

  • Assisting in the administration of the TTC’s Fitness for Duty Policy
  • Receiving and reporting confidential alcohol and drug test results
  • Arranging for drug and alcohol testing as part of the Return to Work process under the Fitness for Duty (FFD) Policy
  • Scheduling tests for the TTC’s random drug and alcohol testing program
  • Updating and maintaining tracking systems/databases for invoices, incidents and preparing monthly statistical reports.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of documents is maintained, including confidential testing information and records
  • Scheduling and taking notes at task force meetings; ensuring effective coordination and communication of information as it relates to the FFD Program; and performing related duties as assigned
  • Responsible for treating passengers and employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer
  • Candidate will be required to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field combined with several years of related work experience or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.

Additional Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of modern office practices
  • Knowledge of labour relations, human rights and human resources concepts and practices including relevant legislation such as Labour Relations Act, etc.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire sound knowledge of TTC policies, specifically the Fitness for Duty Policy, as well as TTC Collective Agreements, procedures and programs applicable to the work performed
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a timely fashion to adapt to changing situations
  • Excellent attention to detail and the accuracy of work
  • Working knowledge of computers and software applications relevant to the work, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of SharePoint is beneficial
