GFL is growing and as we continue to build a new talent/recruitment model, we’re looking for a self-starting, self-disciplined, energetic and fun Recruitment Manager to help us lead and create our team. In this role, you’ll work across all verticals of the organization specializing in building and developing a team that's focused on “field hiring” across Canada. The volume is high, the pace is fast, and the team is a fun! We enjoy sharing our wisdom and learning so we’re aspiring to hire someone who can teach us things we don’t know + we hope you can learn a few things too!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment! A key part of this role will be hands on recruitment and guiding a team to recruit to the best of their potential
  • Update current processes and support the design of new recruiting procedures from attraction through to hiring
  • Supervise the recruitment team, providing mentorship, coaching and reporting on performance
  • Keep track of recruitment metrics and KPIs (e.g. time to hire and cost per hire)
  • Implement sourcing methods (e.g. WOM, job fairs, social recruiting and Boolean searches)
  • Partner with HRIS teams to support the implementation of recruitment software (Workday)
  • Research and choose job advertising options to ensure full market penetration and candidate attraction
  • Advise/train hiring managers on interviewing best practices and techniques
  • Recommend ways to drive and improve market penetration of employer brand for the best possible candidate engagement
  • Coordinate with department managers to forecast future hiring needs
  • Stay up to date on labour legislation and inform recruiters and managers about changes in regulations
  • Participate in job fairs and career events
  • Support the build and application of all pre-employment verification and ensure 100% compliance
  • Build the company’s professional network through relationships with HR professionals, colleges, training schools and other partners

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven work experience as a Recruitment Manager, Supervisor, Team Lead or transferable experience
  • Industry experience or volume-based hiring would be a great asset for this role
  • College Diploma/University Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or a great transferable background that meets the needs of the job!
  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems and HR databases
  • Previous experience with Indeed as a recruitment platform is a strong asset
  • Knowledge of Federal and Provincial labour legislation
  • Experience with phone, virtual and in-person interviews, candidate screening and evaluation
  • Familiarity with social media and other professional networking platforms
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and team management skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Travel required across Canada and occasionally US
