We are currently looking to add a full-time permanent Transportation Supervisor to our team. This role is responsible for scheduling and dispatching our trucks to pick up and deliver hydrogen; support the drivers with trip planning; ensure proper maintenance of company vehicles; assist in procurement of vehicles for our rapidly growing fleet; sourcing contractors as needed to meet the delivery demands; hiring new drivers and other team members as needed.

The job is located in Vancouver, currently we deliver as far as Kelowna, expanding to cover Canada in the coming years. Very little travel will be required. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Transportation Supervisor will play an important part in making sure we are providing the best customer service experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understanding the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDG Regulations), the TDG Act and TDG Regulations
  • Enter, manage, and dispatch fuel deliveries to meet customer requirements and maintain operational status at all stations
  • Effectively plan and prioritize all loads making best use of equipment and drivers while meeting service requirements and considering efficiency and profitability for deliveries
  • Monitor driver status and ensure that they are supported in their roles through positive and clear communication at all times
  • Support the scheduling of equipment maintenance as needed, including sourcing vendors.
  • Work with existing carrier base to strengthen relationships and achieve better understanding of capabilities and define opportunities to grow
  • Develop a trucking strategy to ensure an uninterrupted supply to our hydrogen vehicle fueling stations
  • Develop and update KPI’s for the trucking team to set expectations & evaluate success
  • Rationalize carrier network by working with companies that provide effective solutions, procure new vehicles and transport systems
  • Lead a diverse team across multiple offices

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience working within a Transportation Management role with experience managing/leading others
  • Experience shipping dangerous goods and supporting drivers is essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong computer skills across Microsoft Office, Teams, and web-based software programs
  • Ability to build positive customer relationships across multiple industries
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to respond to demands in a calm manner
  • Ability to champion business needs in a collaborative manner to colleagues
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to manage demands and resolve issues with drivers, co-workers, etc.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining focus
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement proactive solutions to support operational demands and efficiencies.

Assets

  • Hydrogen industry experience is an asset
  • Experience developing and working under ERAPS (emergency response assistance plan)
