The indices are licensed to the world's largest issuers of financial products, capital owners and asset managers as well as to more than 500 companies around the world and are used for financial products such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs), futures and options, but also for risk and performance measurement.


The Index Operations is currently organized in 3 units defined as Index Surveillance and Monitoring, Index Review, and Corporate Actions across 4 locations (Frankfurt, Zug, Prague and Hong-Kong) and is responsible for any day to day activities related to the maintenance of indices under STOXX mandates.


For our office in New York City, USA, we are looking for an Index Analyst to expand the Index Surveillance & Monitoring activity and establish a global coverage in addition to Hong Kong and Prague. The successful candidate will act as a pioneer in the development of the Index Operations activity in the Americas region and will report to Director, Surveillance & Monitoring, EMEA located in Zug, Switzerland.


The Surveillance & Monitoring is responsible for the configuration, calculation and dissemination of all indices under Qontigo Index Management. Furthermore, the team is involved in the launch of new indices, exchange feed monitoring, new rules definition based on clients feed back and coordination of the automation processes with the IT department.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the correctness of daily index calculation for equity, fixed income and strategy indices
  • Monitor configuration of indices to ensure that corporate actions adjustments for equities and periodic reviews of the STOXX and DAX indices are processed correctly
  • Supervise input data feeds according to exchange specification, identify changes and coordinate adjustments
  • Manage the research and implementation of corporate actions for equities (e.g. increases and decreases of capital stocks, M&A activities, dividend payments)
  • Perform regular research on different listed asset classes (equities, fixed income) and overall markets; or on several index specific topics such as ownership research, audit free float calculations, exchange calendars and static reference data
  • Provide subject matter expertise on index set-up and maintenance, markets impacts and anticipate market expectations
  • Enhance or suggest new tools, specify requirements for technical development and test new applications/tools from end to end
  • Document processes and workflows in the Index Operation department
Qualifications:
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or IT related subjects
  • Have strong analytical and conceptual skills and know-how in financial markets
  • Experience and track record in financial industry, index maintenance, or data analysis
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications; VBA, Python skills would be a plus
  • Have a solid command of written and verbal in English; knowledge of German, French, Italian or any European language would be a strong advantage
  • Be a team-player, customer orientated attitude and ability to act as a proactive, independent team player with hands-on mentality
  • Be able to work under pressure and to handle multiple tasks time-efficient and autonomously in parallels and work on tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills, capability to prioritize and follow established guidelines
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision is a must
