Volunteer Social Media Coordinator

Job description

CANAAF is a Canadian registered charity that provides education, support, and essential resources to families impacted by alopecia areata. We are currently seeking volunteers to join our dedicated team. As CANAAF’s Social Media Coordinator, you will form lasting connections with a team of like-minded individuals while managing the organization’s social media channels.

As the Social Media Coordinator, you will:

  • Create content that will attract maximum membership interest
  • Write and review content for websites, social media pages and public communications
  • Design Search Engine Optimization (SEO) driven content and increase site traffic to www.canaaf.org
  • Collaborate with the content and marketing sub-committee to decide the brand taglines, logo and other promotional material
  • Measure and monitor media traffic statistics and take actions to improve the traffic metrics
  • Brainstorm creative new ways to inspire engagement on all platforms and channels
  • Ensure that content is compliant with the copyright and data protection laws and within the guidelines of the Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation’s mandate.
  • Maintain consistency in content and ensure alignment with brand history and plans
  • Identify member’s needs in relation to the foundation and write content to cater to those needs
  • Update the social media and content pages regularly
  • Conduct research on the key SEO terms and incorporating them into the content to achieve maximum viewership

Qualifications and Skills we look for:

  • Content Creator Skills Required (experience with graphic design apps such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Pablo, Desygner, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational skills
  • Must be experienced with management of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts and understand the algorithms of each
  • Excellent communications skills in English and proficient in French (not mandatory)
  • Experience as a content creator in prior roles creating strong and engaging content and/or social media marketing (preferred)
  • Understanding and ability to create posts in the appropriate formats for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness when proofreading content before publishing
  • Creative mindset to keep followers engaged and interacting
  • Works in a timely manner, comfortable with meeting deadlines and quick turnarounds
  • Ability to work efficiently maintaining high quality and accuracy
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Multi-project management skills, adhering to timelines and performing under pressure to achieve targets
  • Developed team working skills to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders and work in alignment with them
  • Ability to maintain brand consistency in content writing
  • Determination to cater to the needs of members and discover the potential markets for the foundation.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills to ensure meeting deadlines
  • An analytic mindset to determine target market needs and interests
  • Ability to communicate the message in simple and beautiful language which will attract audience
  • Content creators should publish new contents periodically at a steady pace
  • Understanding of SEO best practices
  • Knowledge of various analytics platforms
  • Must be a team player

Job Types: Part-time, Internship / Co-op
Part-time hours: 3-5 per week
